Moroccon Summer | The sultry hues of the dessert; dripping with flaming red and bronzed marigold beside the heavenly blues of the Mediterranean Sea; lapis, cerulean, azure, pacific.
What's in My Wardrobe | My summer uniform consists of shorts and t-shirts; all day long! Perhaps because it's been tropically hot this summer (and I'm more than happy sweating but only when my skin can breathe) but also because I spend a lot of time outside and with my hands in the dirt and it's just practical. So- my summer wardrobe is conducive to easy and fuss-free! I chose a handful of artful tees in colors that I love and some white and blue stripe shorts to dress things up! It also contains simple, pull over dresses, linen pants, and some unique blouses. My investment piece this summer was a blue and white stripe skirt that I fell in love with at Anthropologie! Easy Ways to Dress Up Summer Style | 1. Purposeful Leisure - If you love t-shirts in the summer than invest in a couple of those baby's in colors that you like that have a bit of shape, either fitted or loose and drapey; however you like, so that you can be comfortable and also dressed up. Linen pants accomplish the same thing! (Leisurely but pretty! Here's the pair I bought). 2. White jeans or shorts and a pair of good wedges are a great way to dress things up in the summer! You can pair them with another neutral top or something bright. 3. Statement necklaces and jewelry are also a fantastic way to dress up a simple tee in the summer! 4. And of course a great summer dress will do the job all in itself! If you haven't yet, spend some time finding a few dresses that really flatter you and you love! It is invaluable to the wardrobe and a one-piece outfit! The green dress in this post has a special story - I found it in German Village, Columbus with my good friend Sue in a really neat shop where the lady sewed all of her clothing from recycled African sari's. There was only one of each. Cool huh! This one called my name.
Why I Still Love A Capsule Wardrobe | I am still so thankful for the practice of a capsule wardrobe in the summer! [How To Create A Capsule Wardrobe] 1. Having all the colors and pieces together gives me inspiration and helps me to feel like I have clothes to wear! 2. By seeing them in a color-coordinated, season-appropriate way I know I have a ton of options to wear instead of staring into my closet wondering, and I get a TON more use out of my clothes this way! 3. Choosing outfits beforehand, [see this post to learn how], helps me to be able to pick out a look on the fly; which is necessary in the summer! 4. I feel "put-together" which puts just a little pep in my step! :)
I hope you were inspired. What are you wearing this summer?
