// I spent a few days this week with a dear friend of mine in Chicago. We met in Texas when we were interning at a ministry after high school and have remained friends for the past 10 years even though we live in different states now. We try to make a trip once a year to see each other. The last time we were together was at my wedding and it seemed like things had changed so much since then! (She had a baby & moved and I got married & moved to West Virginia). So, it was so good to see her.

friendship // It seems, even through the seasons of life some friends remain… and it’s so beautiful to pick up where you left off. I’ve found with these old ones.. who have known me through several seasons - especially those young, silly, growing, (think-you’ve-got-it-together-more-than-you-do) seasons - that coming back to them is like a celebration of who you’ve become. And a GIANT hug. It is so incredibly comforting and such a beautiful thing to be known. I’m so thankful for friends (all kinds) who love me in different ways and bring out beauty in me. We need friendship in every season in life, new ones and especially old ones - hold on to the ones you have - they are one of the greatest treasures in life.

// I wanted to spend a day in the city and Grace wanted a day with a friend without the baby (she is such an amazing, dedicated mom). We decided to pamper ourselves and go to a spa to have our nails done and made reservations at a beautiful brunch spot in the city with big windows where we could relax and people watch. Then strolled around doing a little shopping at our favorite spots.
